VPN for remote work
A consumer VPN encrypts traffic from your device to the VPN provider, which can add protection on home or shared networks. It is not a substitute for employer-managed VPNs, zero-trust access or endpoint policies required for corporate systems.
When a personal VPN helps
- Working from a co-working space or shared apartment network
- Traveling while accessing non-corporate browsing and email
- Adding encryption when your ISP or landlord network is untrusted
What it does not replace
- Company VPN for internal applications
- MFA, device management and DLP policies
- Secure handling of customer data governed by contract
Frequently asked questions
- Should I use DexterVPN instead of my company VPN?
- Follow your employer's IT policy. Consumer VPNs complement — but do not replace — approved corporate remote access tools.
